Speaker: Ruth Lukabyo.
Much of church history focuses on the ministries of men and their impact on the church and wider society. However, these men often were part of families and households, their wives and children also influencing how their households conducted ministry together.
In this seminar focusing on evangelical households of the early colony in 19th century New South Wales, Australia, Ruth Lukabyo takes a closer look at the households of Samuel and Eliza Marsden and Thomas and Anne Hassall to explore the role of women in marriage and ministry, and therefore the ministry of their households, at that time. Ruth also explores some of the implications and challenges of the past for our thinking today.
